Earn 50 AA miles per dollar of your donation

American Airlines and MasterCard have a new Charity promotion out. This time they have teamed up with a non-profit called Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) to award American Airlines AAdvantage® miles for donations made to the charity.

There are 2 levels of payouts of miles with this promotion.

    1. The more basic ones is when you make a donation of $25 or more, you’ll receive 25 bonus miles for every dollar donated through September 30, 2023.

    2. But if you use an American Airlines AAdvantage® Mastercard® credit card to donate between $25 and $10,000 online, you’ll receive another 25 bonus AA miles for every dollar donated, for a total of 50 bonus miles per dollar.

The promotion ends September 30, 2023, or when overall promotion donations total $3 million.

If you see this as an opportunity to support a charity, then it could also earn you a handsome stock of AA miles but you will not be able to deduct the donation on your tax return as every mile is valued at 3 cent in their books, so you are effectively getting more in return for your donation.

If you use this as an opportunity to purchase miles, at 2 cents per mile, you will be doing better than buying directly from American Airlines  but it still far from a great deal. Also, it is worth noting, that you only earn AA miles with this promotion and no Loyalty Points so you will not earn any status from this besides what you earn from the spend on your credit card.

As a point of comparison, you earned 240 miles for every dollar donated the last time AA and MasterCard ran such a promotion in December 2021 via SimplyMiles.

Bank of America adds more categories to Custom Cash Card

Bank of America ®  has added more cashback categories to its  Customized Cash Rewards credit card.  You can now earn 3% cash back on  EV charging stations, cable, streaming, internet & phone plan purchases  in addition to previous categories. IHG Ambassador Renewal Offer extension

As discussed before on this blog,  IHG Ambassador is one of the few reward status that can be outright purchased for a fixed amount every year. The usual rate is $200 or 40,000 IHG points.
