giftcards.com ends 5% off promo early

giftcards.com is one of the few websites that sells Visa and Mastercard e-Gift cards online. It has been useful to me multiple times to meet spending offers, buying discounted gift cards and earning tons of cashback and miles via portals while doing so.

They charge a high fee of $5.95 for these gift cards. If you buy the maximum of $250 per gift card, then the fee comes out to 2.4% per dollar spent. What makes this still interesting is when they either run discount offers, or when they partner with online portals to give cashback or miles on these purchases.

For example, they used to partner with AAdvantageeShopping portal to earn 3 AA loyalty points & miles on these purchases, which equated to buying AA loyalty points & miles at .8 cent per mile before even considering the rewards earned on the credit card used for the purchase. Alas, it is no longer a partner of AA's portal. But some other shopping portals, like the CapitalOne card offers and CapitalOne shopping portal, have had even crazier deals, earning anywhere from 3% to 18% back in cash or gift cards from you giftcards.com purchases.

Giftcards.com also frequently run discount offers on their website. They recently were running a 5% discount offer on their Visa Virtual Gift Cards. When we include the fee, the discount comes down to 2.6% per $250 e-Visa card. You shopping portal rewards, card linked offers and credit card rewards are an icing on the cake. That is like a 2.6% discount off whereever you can use the Visa gift card! You can use it anywhere Visa is accepted, online or in-store. You can pay your bills, buy groceries, shop online, or treat yourself to something nice.

The most recent such offer (LUCKY, POTOFGOLD) was supposed to run until April, 6th but unfortunately got pulled early. So the lesson is to not trust giftcards.com offer deadlines and get in while you can.

Bank of America ®  has added more cashback categories to its  Customized Cash Rewards credit card.  You can now earn 3% cash back on  EV charging stations, cable, streaming, internet & phone plan purchases  in addition to previous categories. IHG Ambassador Renewal Offer extension

As discussed before on this blog,  IHG Ambassador is one of the few reward status that can be outright purchased for a fixed amount every year. The usual rate is $200 or 40,000 IHG points. This can be very useful if you are going to stay at Six Senses for example.
