When purchasing Virtual Gift cards, you pay a $5.95 fee for gift cards up to $250 in value. To maximize the promo code, you will need to purchase 6 $100 e-gift cards for a total of $635.70. After you apply the promo, your total should come down to $585.70.

That is around 2.4% discount on any of your purchases even before you count the other rewards that you will earn. Any credit card and portal rewards will be extra.

There are currently good offers from CapitalOne Rewards, where I am targeted for 5% cashback. Your personal offer may vary. Also, my favorite AAdvantage e-shopping portal is back to supporting giftcards.com as well and is currently awarding 3x American miles & loyalty points on gift cards purchases up to a maximum of $2000 purchases per month. You can stay within that limit with 6 $100 gift cards and 5 $250 gift cards and 1 $78.60 gift card purchase in your order. That should net you a cool 6000 miles and loyalty points, keeping you strong on your AA elite journey.

Credit card to use
giftcards.com does not qualify for any of the usual credit card bonus categories so you should either use a credit card on which you will earn a sign up bonus or your best non-bonused spend credit card - usually a 2% or 2x credit card like Citi Double Cash, Capital One Venture and Venture X cards, Amex Blue Business Plus or Cash card, or if you are Platinum or Platinum Honors with Bank of America then 2.25% or 2.625% with your Premier Rewards, Travel Rewards or Unlimited Cash Rewards card.

giftcards.com has started supporting a few digital payment wallets like PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay and Discover currently has a 5% cashback offer on online purchases with Apple Pay upto $1500, which would make it the best card up to that amount.

Unfortunately, the Bank of America Custom Cash Online category bonus stopped applying to giftcards.com some time in 2021. This was likely a transaction category change on giftcards.com side.

I recently flew Air India Business class from Vancouver to Delhi. In this post I review how I booked it and the details of the flight. Bank of America ®  has added more cashback categories to its  Customized Cash Rewards credit card.  You can now earn 3% cash back on  EV charging stations, cable, streaming, internet & phone plan purchases  in addition to previous categories. IHG Ambassador Renewal Offer extension

As discussed before on this blog,  IHG Ambassador is one of the few reward status that can be outright purchased for a fixed amount every year. The usual rate is $200 or 40,000 IHG points. This can be very useful if you are going to stay at Six Senses for example. As also noted in the same blog, if you do not automatically renew, you usually get an offer to renew for $200 and get 15,000 points in return, which is a nice discount.
